Company / Digital Mobility Inc.

It started in the field.

Established in Toronto, DMI builds digitalization, automation and authentication software for public safety and government services. Its founders came to the problem from inside it, across more than 45 deployments and years on an ambulance.

/ Why DMI exists

The values came from the work.

Across disaster deployments and ambulance shifts, the founders kept meeting the same thing: people doing complex, critical work on processes and tools that had not kept pace with the environments they were working in. In emergency response those are not administrative inconveniences. Faster access to information and better coordination change outcomes.

Digitize critical frontline workflows without creating more work for the people performing them.

The objective IMP was built to meet, and the foundation of DMI.

Amir Azimi

Founder and CEO
Amir Azimi

More than 25 years ago, Amir began deploying alongside disaster response organizations to natural disasters, humanitarian crises and conflict zones around the world. Initially embedded as a freelance videographer and photographer, his role evolved as he trained in disaster response management and water treatment, eventually leading teams of volunteer police officers, paramedics, firefighters and other emergency personnel into challenging frontline environments.

Across more than 45 international and domestic deployments, Amir saw firsthand what happens when frontline professionals are forced to operate with outdated processes, fragmented information and limited access to technology. In emergency response, these were not simply administrative inefficiencies. In some situations, faster access to information, better coordination and more effective processes could have changed outcomes and potentially saved lives.

After spending significant time with law enforcement officers in Canada and hearing many of the same frustrations, Amir began developing what would become Intelligent Mobile Patrol® (IMP), with a simple objective: digitize critical frontline workflows without creating more work for the people performing them. That philosophy became the foundation of Digital Mobility Inc.

Amir later invented Braidmark®, a patented technology designed to protect the authenticity and integrity of digital documents and information. Both innovations grew from the same principle: technology for critical operations should solve problems at the point where they actually occur, not simply digitize an outdated process.

His work has been recognized by the Premier of Ontario, the High Commissioner of Canada and the Mayor of Toronto, among others, for his contributions to international humanitarian and disaster response initiatives. That commitment continues through his philanthropic work with WeDigWells, supporting access to clean water in communities where basic infrastructure remains a challenge. While leading DMI, Amir is also pursuing an MBA focused on artificial intelligence.

Dean Wood

President and Chief Product Officer
Dean Wood
LinkedIn

Dean Wood's perspective on technology was shaped long before he entered the technology industry. It was shaped on the front lines of emergency response.

Dean spent years serving as a frontline paramedic before moving into operational leadership as a Superintendent with Toronto Emergency Medical Services. Working within one of Canada's largest emergency response systems gave him firsthand experience with the realities faced by first responders, where decisions must be made quickly, information needs to be accessible, and administrative processes cannot become an obstacle to delivering service.

He deployed internationally on multiple humanitarian and disaster response missions alongside Amir, working in environments where infrastructure, communications and resources were often limited. Those deployments reinforced something both would come to believe strongly: frontline professionals are frequently asked to perform highly complex and critical work using processes and technology that have not kept pace with the environments in which they operate.

His focus is not technology for technology's sake. It is understanding what happens at the side of the road, inside an emergency vehicle, during an incident or in the middle of a major operation, and then asking a simple question: how can we make the frontline professional's job faster, safer and more effective?

Farhad Keramati

Technical Co-Founder and CTO
Farhad Keramati
LinkedIn

Farhad Keramati brings a background in smart cities technology and a passion for using technology to modernize critical public services.

Working alongside DMI's founding team, Farhad recognized the opportunity to bring the efficiencies emerging in connected cities and modern digital infrastructure directly to public safety. He played a central role in the development of Intelligent Mobile Patrol, translating real-world challenges identified by frontline professionals into scalable technology.

With a Master's degree from the University of Toronto, Farhad continues to lead DMI's technical strategy and research and development, including the company's exploration of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
